Social entrepreneurship is a necessary competency in higher education; however, research in this area is in its early stages. This study sought to evaluate social entrepreneurship competency and identify the factors and educational processes that promote its development. The research consisted of mixed method. The tools included a questionnaire, interviews with professors, and a focus group with students. The questionnaire did not show variation by disciplinary area, semester grade, or previous experience. The interviews and the focus group led to an analysis that described the development of the SEC as a continuous learning process around the validation of the social enterprise.es_MX
